About this project

Haiyvee is a modern, privacy-first social networking application that empowers users to discover and connect with nearby people through chat, stories, video reels, group messaging, and live location features — all while maintaining complete control over their audience visibility. As the sole full-stack developer and DevOps architect, I independently conceptualized, built, and scaled Haiyvee from scratch — driving it to 500,000+ downloads and 130K+ monthly active users, all while managing both the frontend (React Native) and backend (Node.js + MongoDB + Socket.IO + AWS) ecosystems. ⸻ 🔧 Key Responsibilities & Achievements: • Scalable Backend Architecture: Designed and implemented a high-performance backend using Node.js, MongoDB, Redis, Kafka, and Socket.IO, capable of handling thousands of concurrent users with real-time data sync. • React Native Frontend (Android): Engineered a seamless user experience using React Native, including advanced features like video stories, image editing, voice recording, swipe navigation, and real-time presence. • Real-Time Chat & Notifications: Developed a Socket.IO-powered chat engine with image/video sharing, audio recording, read receipts, typing indicators, and push notifications via FCM. • Geo-based Matching: Created an advanced location-based discovery system using MongoDB 2dsphere and socket-based geo queries, enabling “people nearby” features with blazing fast speed. • Media Handling & Optimization: Integrated Sharp and FFmpeg for image and video compression, thumbnail generation, and smooth story/reel previews. • Complete DevOps & Infrastructure Ownership: Handled end-to-end infrastructure using AWS EC2, PM2, Nginx, MongoDB Atlas, SSL, and auto-scaling, ensuring 99.99% uptime and fast deployments. • Admin Panel & Moderation: Developed a powerful admin panel (React + CoreUI) for user management, content moderation, analytics, and feature flag controls. • Security & Privacy Controls: Implemented features like ghost mode, private account toggle, block/report system, and real-time session tracking to ensure platform integrity and user safety. ⸻ 📈 Impact: • 🚀 Scaled to 500K+ downloads and 15K+ concurrent users • 🔧 Maintained <300ms average API latency under high load • ✅ Built and deployed without any external team — 100% solo managed
